“Stranger Angel” is the first concept-record by Caroline’s Spine.
*The music & lyrics center on shared moments between two heroes. They find each other as “strangers” involved in separate challenges. They see and feel a similar darkness. Almost immediately, there is a deep surge of respect, attraction, and loyalty between them. By nature, they relish in giving no weight to the judgment of others, giving no credit to the loneliness of being so fringe, and allowing very little pessimism to invade the natural bliss they feel together.
Our heroes find themselves making a concerted effort to experience the excitement, and the stillness, of this world. To find the light.

They become “angels” to each other.

Lyrics

SWEAR
(Newquist)

Aaaahhhh !
“Are you out?”
I’m big enough
to call you out

I swear
if I had my way
I’d look to find you
with me, here, right now
can’t believe it,
but know it’s safe to say
I’d look to find you
with me, here, right now

I’m big enough
to call you out
and it feels like rain
in the office today
I hope my power
goes out soon

I swear
if I had my way
I’d look to find you
with me, here, right now
can’t believe it
but know it’s safe to say
I’d look to find you
with me, here, right now

FLOWERS
(Newquist)

How do you fight
for so long?
villains in all directions,
meet your swinging arms

I’m glad to know you
I’m glad you know me, too

the flowers stand tall
when you pass by

While your searching for dawn
and given your dark directions,
find my open arms

‘cause I’m glad to know you
yes, I’m glad you know me too

the flowers stand tall
when you pass by

MY CITY CALLIN’
(Newquist)

I want to know
the beauty of dawn
your way
so lay me down
put an end
to this day

so lay me down
with all your
fine thing
you have no rival
the best that the streets
could bring

I guess
I’m all lost
in that regard
my city callin’
I’m lost
in that regard

c’mon and lay me down
with all your fine thing
you have no rival
the best my city could bring

I go nowhere and
I get everywhere
just up the block
and down the road

my city calls…

STRANGER ANGEL
(Newquist)

Sometimes
I feel like a stranger
in a place
that I thought I knew
I’m checking the tide
I’m trying to decide
what to do

maybe I should stay here
maybe go tonight
maybe if I switch gears
it’ll be all right

maybe if I swallow
the rest of my pride
maybe if I follow
I’ll find someplace
to hide

‘cause I feel like a stranger
in a place
that I thought I knew
I’m checking the tide
I’m trying to decide
what to do

maybe I should leave here
maybe stay the night
maybe wait ’til next year
put off the fight

maybe if I borrow
the rest of your pride
maybe if I follow
I won’t need a place
to hide

‘cause I feel like a stranger
in a place
that I thought I knew
I’m checking the tide
I’m trying to decide
what to do

Where is my angel ?

“Talk to me, angel…”
“Talk to me, angel…”
“Talk to me, angel…”

Where is my angel ?

My angel is in fall ?

I’m thinkin’
my angel is in fall !

“Talk to me, angel…”
“Talk to me, angel…”
“Talk to me, angel…”

I’m thinkin’ my angel is gone !

It feels like

my angel

is gone…
